What is the CyberForce Competition?
The CyberForce Competition is a cyber workforce development competition that focuses on the defensive/hardening nature of energy cyber infrastructure.
Blue Team interacts with the Green Team to ensure proper IT support is administered as well as provides a creativity pitch to the CISO panel.
Red Team actively attacks the Blue Team's infrastructure in order to disrupt the availability and usability of the system.
White Team are the IT administrators and architects of the competition. This is usually national laboratory personnel.
Green Team tests the usability and availability of the Blue Teams' systems. They act as users and/or operators of the energy infrastructure.
The CISO Panel allows Blue Team members to pitch their level of creativity and innovation in their defense strategy.
We hope you are all well and safe during these evolving times. While we understand there is a lot of uncertainty of when students may return to normal classrooms, when professionals may return to the office, or when the national laboratories will return to normal operations; what we can do is move forward with the CyberForce Competition.
To ensure the safety and health of our participants, volunteers, and laboratory staff, the 2020 CyberForce Competition will be run virtually as an individual competition on November 14, 2020. Thus, ensuring we maximize students’ abilities to participate while potentially e-learning.
Student participants will need to be attending an accredited U.S. higher education institution and follow all other requirements to participate. The 2020 CyberForce Competition will be hosting 400 individuals. Competitors will be selected to participate by random lottery.
Additionally, all volunteer opportunities will be held virtually. More information on those will be sent in the coming weeks.
Registration for both student competitors and volunteers is now open and will close Friday, October 2, 2020.
